Research has been an integral part of Cardiovascular Medicine since the first Electrophysiology studies were completed in 1990. Currently, CVM physicians are participating in over 53 clinical trials, and in all, have made valuable contributions in over 200 trials. CVM is fortunate to partner with dedicated facilities such as Genesis Medical Center, Trinity Medical Center and Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation to conduct these studies.
All research studies conducted by Cardiovascular Medicine physicians have received IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval to help ensure that the rights, welfare, and confidentiality of human subjects participating in research are protected. This also ensures we are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations when conducting our research.
Medical research is done to study the human body and learn about disease processes-what causes them and how they can be treated or prevented. By taking part in research studies, volunteers help researchers contribute to advances in medical science.
If you have questions regarding participation in research, please be sure to speak to your CVM cardiologist. Your participation in research studies is strictly voluntary.
