Professional Background
Dr. Parth Desai received his M.B.B.S. degree summa cum laude, graduating with three gold medals from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Gujarat, India. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. Following residency, he pursued a dedicated Cardiovascular Translational Research Fellowship at Loyola University, Maywood, IL, where his research focused on sarcomeric remodeling in patients with long-standing atrial fibrillation. He then completed his Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
Dr. Desai went on to complete an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center in Houston, Texas, and further subspecialized in Advanced Adult Structural Interventional Cardiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Desai joined Cardiovascular Medicine in September 2025. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology, with additional certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). He holds medical licenses in Iowa and Illinois and is available for outpatient consultations and follow-up care at the Davenport and Clinton clinic locations. He has admitting privileges at MercyOne Genesis Medical Centers, as well as UnityPoint Health–Trinity Medical Centers.
Dr. Desai’s clinical interests include coronary artery disease and complex percutaneous coronary interventions, including chronic total occlusions (CTO) and high-risk PCI supported by mechanical circulatory support devices. He also has advanced expertise in transcatheter valve therapies such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement (TMVR), mitral and tricuspid edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER, T-TEER), left atrial appendage occlusion, and percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defects (ASD). In addition, he has expertise in the management of peripheral artery disease, renal and carotid interventions, and catheter-based therapies for acute pulmonary embolism. Dr. Desai has presented research at national and international scientific sessions hosted by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA), Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), and Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT). He remains committed to advancing structural heart and vascular therapies through collaboration, clinical research, and teaching.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Desai enjoys chess, bowling, cricket, tennis, traveling to new places, and spending time with family and friends.
